Reviews for this release

Willen, Armin, latest version of TurboDNN scripts have been released to provide best database performance for your sites. Download for free from https://dnnscript.codeplex.com (please checkout readme carefully). Users of 3rd party registration/user profile modules, please be careful as there are changes how countries and regions are stored.

Performance is always important and a key feature for a website. When will Sebastian's Turbo Script finally be part of the core DNN CMS? Are there any problems with the script that I might not know?
by rwack on Nov 18 at 5:52 PM
We actually added around 50 of Sebastian's changes back in early 7.x releases. Of the others we did not want to accept some as they moved application logic to stored procedures, or made changes we did not want . However the main issue is that we do not have any proof of the benefit i.e. no metrics showing before and after performance benefits. Sebastian submitted these as jira items, many of which we are waiting to review still, but really need proof before we can consider them Note: running any 3rd party script against DNN platform objects is dangerous and effectively means you are running an unsupported fork of DNN

I am not aware that any of the issues addressed affected my sites, but I was able to update from 7.3.3 without trouble in QA and Production.

I understood that the newtonsoft DLL issue was going to be corrected in this version. I see no change to the undefined menus.

It was originally scheduled for 7.3.4 but was not able to be done in time so has been moved out to 7.4.0

I have installed 7.3.4 over 7.3.1 on my dev machine and noticed considerable increase in app pool memory consumption up from ca. 170 MB (7.3.1) up to around 250 MB (7.3.4) just over a period of 20 minutes of casual browsing through the site. This is a potential restriction to production site hosted with limited app pool capacity. EDIT after one more day of testing: it looks as if the server restart changed the results: - when in anonymous mode the app pool consumption was 163 MB; - after logging in as a host and checking and editing the site's settings - a rise to 190 MB; - after logging off as the host: 183 MB. CONCLUSION: Never hasten with your judgment and wait for the server/app pool restart. I'm adding one star more to the previous three.

I'm afraid we have to wait for Sebastian's Turbo Script to increase performance.....

It's Very Nice Version but Need to more Focus to make Faster in next release.... The most Problem for DNN is only Speed for loading page even you had Powerful dedicated server pure of RAM/CPU/SSD resources only for one website, but it's really slow and need to fix it. I'm sure if you fix this BIG PROBLEM DNN will come on top of CMS around the world.... Because It is the best on other things... Thank you for this Release 7.3.4 again. :)

by AdnanEbrahimi on Nov 14 at 4:47 AM
no, please see Greg_Greensky's analysis in the comment above - the usage is 163MB-190MB which is consistent with recent releases.
