New user to DNN. Using Visual Studio 10 to create a module from a template, the very first DNN instructions tell me to delete the root namespace, which VS won't allow. Not a great start.

no issues at all upgrading from 5.5.0

Source code does not compile if downloaded directly. It cannot be checked out because of the database file in website folder. Get message "Chunk size cannot be determined". If opened with VS, DotNetNuke_Community cannot be found. Got around this by attaching existing website and pointing to Website folder. Then it still would not run, had to create web.config from development.config... etc.....

Upgraded but web.config seemed to have some problems which resulted in 404 error when downloading .doc files from any link. Overwrote the web.config and all seems well now. Can't say if error occurred during upgrade, or somehow manually. Thanks though, love DNN.

The Web Platform Installer zip file is corrupt.

@scand, the c# 5.6.1 release is a community supplied unsupported technology preview (as per the description). The first c# release that will be supported is 6.0, that will have the compile warnings removed. Finally, it would be appreciated if you could avoid the unsuitable language.

Great Release, Faster Cleaner, MVP binding issues use a redirect in web config as... <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity name="WebFormsMvp" publicKeyToken="537f18701145dff0" /> <bindingRedirect oldVersion="" newVersion="" /> </dependentAssembly> All paging broken in all core modules and any other. Razor Host module 1.0.1 is looking for a dnn version higher than 5.6.1.

Three sites upgraded seamlessly. I'm also enjoying the Razor module. Thanks for another great release!

I've updated my 05.06.00 to 05.06.01. The problem is that when I try to access to the home page this is redirected on http://my_domain/Install/Install.aspx?mode=upgrade. How can I resolve it?

We had one minor hiccup with this installation. File Manager would not expand the Portal Root folder. It would just hang indefinitely. Thanks to bkrabach for the solution. Removing compression on this installation fixed the problem.

CAUTION: Do not use if you use .NET 4.0 and have a separate non-DNN application running in a subdirectory. (The location path="." inheritInChildApplications="false" TAG will cause exponential expansion of your event log and web.config and greatly hinder site performance). I had to downgrade this site to .NET 3.5. Other sites without separate web apps work great.

Tried to install 5.6.1 Source Code (new install) and after wasting several hours I finally came across a post from another user experiencing the same install errors: need to have MVC 3 installed on your system before this install actually works. Would have been nice to seen reference to this as a pre-req beforehand.

As a frequent upgrader of DNN, I upgraded from 5.5 to 5.6.1. The upgrade changed the format of all my 'Heading 1' text to much larger, bolder text (on 100+ web pages). Restored backup and will wait for next release.

I hope the document provide a guid for WYSIWYW skinning using .ascx file

Everything works great with one exception. I was unable to expand Portal Root from File Manager after upgrade. Turning off compression (Host > Host Settings > Performance Settings > Compression Setting > No Compression) resolved the issue. Good to have Google Analytics working again - thanks!

Outstanding release once again. It just keeps getting better and better.

All of my sites upgraded with no issues at all. Another solid release.

Site seems ok, but the update report stopped halfway at 00:02:14.187 - Installing Package File DatabaseLoggingProvider_05.06.01_Install: and then nothing, which makes me uneasy. Host settings show version 5.6.1, and site seems to work OK though. Best regards. UPDATE: CASE SOLVED: Thanks @cathalconnolly !! See solution below!

If you have install/upgrade or 3rd party module issues please report them in our forums A failure of a 3rd party application is not a failure of the DotNetNuke Framework! Please stage your sites before you upgrade Production! I successfully upgrade 2 sites with 5.6.1 without any errors.

@ojnord, it sounds like your site simply timed out when installing additional resources. You can manually install them by going to host->extensions and selecting install available extensions or by installing them as a batch via the InstallResources option (see the wiki
