Telerik Install

NOTE: The Telerik Install package includes the Q1 2011 release of Telerik RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX that addresses many problems with Internet Explorer 9.0. There is a known issue with Telerik and DotNetNuke forums. As with any release, we recommend you perform a complete file and database backup before performing any installation on a production website and that you first conduct a trial installation on a staging version of the site. Following these guidelines will ensure that you are able to recover should any unforeseen problems arise during the upgrade process.

Reviews for this release

No updates since Mar 23 2011? This release has not even been tested properly, and does not compile on my machine at all. Who authorized this crap release, and when are these issues being resolved. Is this a way to get people to buy the paid release? I am not happy with this, and if this carries on, then I guess I will have to start moving 100 clients away from this solution.

I am having the same problem as @thienvc on Chrome12. IE9, Firefox 4.01 both render action menus without issue.

Chrome 12, When i hove on Title of a module Uncaught TypeError: undefined is not a function dnn.controls.DNNLabelEdit.initToolbardnn.controls.dnnlabeledit.js:15 dnn.controls.DNNLabelEdit.showToolBardnn.controls.dnnlabeledit.js:32

this is not a Rating more of a question. Could DNN database be structured like this. The user registration and transactions in one very secure database. The community data in another more open and user friendly database. Security always equals lag or errors. Would it be better to evolve to a dual database system. Considering the fact that we fun dual and quad core systems. It would only right.

Not the worst release, but loads of known bugs remain, some are reasonably important and time consuming to address. Not one of the best releases, and not a good last release before a major release of DNN 6. For all the spin you have been putting on yourself, DNN corp you should be doing much better!
by InteractiveWebs on Jun 4, 2011 at 7:24 AM
Compression issues along with many other bugs... This release should have been more properly tested before being released. I wouldn't call this release "Stable"
by mmozdemir on Jun 2, 2011 at 8:38 PM
This release has used HTML 1.0 Transitional. That is very unwise. I would choose XHTML1.0, XHTML1.1, or even HTML5 due to the microFormats. XML is SEO, DTD, DOM, AJAX, XML RPC, etc. I wouldn't want to go back in time to Xhtml, or html4 ever. Mobile apps, Multi-threading, WebGL, Flex ->Ajax Bridge. They all use XML./JS, and the older browsers were not very great with it, and the obtrusive stuff.

I could not compile this project, as VS2008 reported 129 errors. After I applied the correction suggested by another user regarding "Framework" I only got 14 errors, one of them being "Could not get dependencies for project reference 'DotNetNuke.Library.VS2008'...../" The blog "Using the DotNetNuke Source Code" was useful on getting the website work, but I am still stuck with the build's errors.

I've had great experiences with 5.6.2. All my sites have upgraded fine, and no errors or issues have arisen in my use.
by christoc on May 24, 2011 at 3:43 PM
stay clear from this very poor effort of a release.

5.6.1 to 5.6.2 with no problems at all
by adampax on May 14, 2011 at 10:54 PM
Creation of parent portals doesn't work, the procedure doesn't create the "portalName" folder and files in the DNN installation directory . I run dnn as an application under the default web site and as main site too.

Upgrade from 5.4.4 -> 5.6.2 Got 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission' errors. We had v5.4.4 running in .Net2 Integrated mode. Changing the AppPool to .Net4 Integrated solved it and upgrade seems to have gone fine for the most part (some container skins got messed up and one 3rd party module key got lost). If .Net4 is a requirement for this release it should be stated/noted somewhere, methinks.

Upgraded from 4.9.0 -> 5.6.2. Upgrade went great. Site loaded... but menus were missing and I was unable to click on links. Used the release.config (found in a new install, not the upgrade) and compared it to web.config in current site. Replaced the <system.codedom> section and it worked. Knew something was wrong after .NET 3.5 warning was displayed in Host although I was using .NET 4

Upgrade from v5.6.1 to v5.6.2 went smoothly - have not installed telerik 6 yet but rad editor and rad menu seems to be working fine without it for the moment. However I have noticed that multi-line textboxes (in site settings and tab settings for example) are now HUGE - but they have the same w x h dimensions as before. I see this behavior in both IE8 and IE9 and all major Gecko browsers.

I have the same problem as RogerSelwyn and JoiseyStud. Do we know what breaks it - the 5.6.2 upgrade or the Telerik 6.0.0? I only get the error when trying to add or view a Forum post.

Upgraded from v5.6.1 without any error.

Upgraded from 5.06.01 -> 5.06.02 without a glitch. Thank you.

was upgrading from 5.6.1 and the install went smootly without error
by DarkJackO on Apr 12, 2011 at 1:30 PM
As a user above posted, changing this worked: DotNetNuke.Framework.jQuery.RequestRegistration() to > Global.DotNetNuke.Framework.jQuery.RequestRegistration(). Thanks for the tip!
by pvyaka01 on Apr 11, 2011 at 4:35 AM
This release re-introduces a bug around what permissions someome with edit module gets. Also the same as Joiseystud I get this error in DNN Forum 5.0.1 on DNN 5.6.1 --> DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: The DataSourceID of 'trcRating3854' must be the ID of a control of type IDataSource. A control with ID 'Office2007' could not be found
by RogerSelwyn on Apr 10, 2011 at 2:46 PM
The DNN release seems fine, but the Telerik package broke my install. Get an error now that "office 2007 control can not be found". Restoring from backup...
by joiseystud on Apr 9, 2011 at 9:03 AM
Hyperlink manager don't works
by samuelcastello on Apr 7, 2011 at 2:47 PM
For those having issues with the "'Framework' is not a member of 'DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Controls.DotNetNuke" error I believe (but haven't confirmed this) that a DotNetNuke class has been added under the DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Controls namespace. to cut a long story short you need to change > DotNetNuke.Framework.jQuery.RequestRegistration() to > Global.DotNetNuke.Framework.jQuery.RequestRegistration()
by x1alpha76 on Apr 5, 2011 at 7:20 AM
Updated from 5.5.1->5.6.2. The same Telerik-procedure as every Update! It's not in there.........
by boe on Apr 1, 2011 at 11:33 PM
I was upgrading from 5.4.1 and everything seemed to go smoothly except I am also getting the error when compiling: 'Framework' is not a member of 'DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Controls.DotNetNuke'

Telerik reference issues. Lame.

Updated 3 dnn installations with no problems
by carloscms on Mar 29, 2011 at 10:32 PM
The latest version of Telerik.Web.UI module installation FAILED during upgrade from 5.6.1 to 5.6.2, leaving references to existing (old) and non-existing (new) versions. The whole application could not be started after the upgrade, and we ended up restoring back to 5.6.1 after wasting 3 hours of production time. Worst DNN upgrade experience in YEARS! We'll wait for a working upgrade package!
by aistomin on Mar 28, 2011 at 11:54 PM
We were running 5.6.1 on a portal where we do complex asp.net developments. There was no problem with the upgrade to 5.6.2 at all and I can say that the bugs are fixed like described and our applications are MUCH faster. Thank you - excellent release.
by twa01 on Mar 27, 2011 at 3:35 PM
This is not a smooth upgrade from 5.6.1. We have several errors during and after the upgrade.
by zaratustra on Mar 27, 2011 at 2:11 PM
Everything went great with a new installation.
by leondai on Mar 27, 2011 at 8:42 AM
I installed the Upgrade edition over the top of my current version 5.2.2. The site would not come up with a compilation error App_Code\XML\Handlers\download.vb(89): error BC30002: Type 'Web.HttpContext' is not defined. After I modified the reference to System.Web.HttpContext on line 89 and line 34 the site compiled and performed the full upgrade process successfully.

In this release (Install), I found the URL changes to lower case when I add additional languages. I was searching how to change URL to lower case in DotNetNuke without additional third party (and even I tried without IIS URL Rewrite module). Is this a new feature/fix in this release or I missed something in earlier versions? (I am sorry about my English spelling)
by BrianMw on Mar 25, 2011 at 6:23 PM
I was able to upgrade from 5.6.1 without issues. There is no more error on ASPX pages in subfolders. However, I still need to disable compression to avoid "loading..." message in the File Manager or the Control Panel when hovering on Host/Admin icons. I have the feeling that response time is faster.
